Founded in 1955 as the Association of Commodity Exchange Firms, It was subsequently renamed the Futures Industry Association. Initially started as a national body, it became an international body FIA Global with FIA, FIA Asia and FIA Europe as affiliated regional bodies.
Today, the FIA has 250 members representing a diverse group of market participants such as firms, exchanges, clearinghouses, customers, professionals and other service providers. It is active in North America, Europe and Asia. FIA also works towards standardizing the futures industry across the world.
