As we continuously state throughout our website - this is just our interpretation of the commodities industry - so, especially with the electronic contracts - please be sure to confirm things with your broker or the exchanges themselves - as things are "moving at the speed of the internet".

Electronic Trading of Equities and Indices - the major markets being tapped electronically are the Dow, Dow Options, S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, S&P MidCap 400, Ruesell 2000 and the "Single Stock Futures".

mini-sized Dow (traded at the Chicago Board of Trade):

The Chicago Board of Trade complex of futures and options based on the Dow Jones Industrial AverageSM, and futures based on the Dow JonesSM U.S. Total Market Index allows active traders to choose how, where, and when they express their market opinions.

In times of economic uncertainty and volatile markets, active traders can gain flexibility from being able to trade CBOT® mini-sized DowSM futures (with a $5 multiplier), CBOT DJIASM futures (with a $10 multiplier), or the respective options on each of these products. In addition, these contracts give market users a choice of open auction or electronic trading platforms. And the CBOT electronic trading platform allows traders to respond to political and economic shifts almost around the clock.

CBOT DJ TMI futures provide investment managers, professional and active traders with an efficient trading instrument that covers the entire US stock market.  For more information on the CBOT products, Click below for a PDF file from the CBOT:

E-mini S&P 500 (traded at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange)

The E-miniTM S&P 500® futures and options on futures from Chicago Mercantile Exchange® are small, but powerful contracts for the individual investor. E-mini S&P 500 futures contracts are based on the same leading S&P 500 index as the most actively traded stock index contract in the world – S&P 500 futures – but are a fraction of the size. The E-mini enables you to participate in and profit from the benchmark index tracked by pension and mutual funds around the country. For an overview by the CME of the E-mini products, please click here: E-mini Brochure

E-mini Nasdaq 100 (traded at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange)

The U.S. economy is being transformed by exciting technological changes and advancements in science and industry. Many of the leading companies involved in this process are a part of the NASDAQ-100® Index. CME® offers an E-miniTM version of the NASDAQ-100 futures at one-fifth the size of the original NASDAQ-100 futures, making these exciting contracts affordable for all investors.   For more information on the E-mini Nasdaq 100, click here to visit the CME's website.

E-mini S&P Midcap 400 (traded at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange)

The E-miniTM S&P® MidCap 400TM, with its focus on mid-size companies, is the fourth electronic E-mini on a major stock index. The E-mini is one-fifth the size of its standard, pit-traded counterpart, and trades exclusively on GLOBEX®.  For more information on the E-mini S&P Midcap 400, click here to visit the CME's website.

E-mini Russell 2000 (traded at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange)

Investors seeking to participate in the benchmark index for small-cap stocks — the Russell 2000® Index — now have access to a useful new product. This latest addition to CME®'s E-miniTM stock index complex joins the two fastest-growing products in the Exchange's history: the E-mini S&P 500® and E-mini NASDAQ-100® futures contracts. Like its predecessors, the E-mini Russell 2000 is one-fifth the size of its standard counterpart, and trades exclusively on CME's GLOBEX® electronic trading system.  For more information on the E-mini Russell 2000, click here to visit the CME's website.

Single Stock Futures (traded at One Chicago)

About a year or so ago - this is all anyone talked about in the futues industry.  Futures Knowledge.com went so far as to create a massive section on our web site dedicated to the new futures contracts that you could purchase based on individual stocks.  How come you never saw it?  Quite simply - it may be the exact same reason no one is talking about Single Stock Futures anymore...   One Chicago was not willing to allow us to post their information on our web site.   So instead of properly marketing themselves and jumping on the bandwagon they had - they managed to keep themselves a secret (nice work One Chicago).  All-in-all - the Single Stock Futures are traded on 80+ stocks such as Microsoft and IBM.  We're going to go out on a limb here and give some free advertising to the folks at One Chicago - so if you're interested in more details on Single Stock Futures, click here to visit One Chicago's website.
