As a broker Erik is active in educating and supporting new and seasoned traders alike. Erik's personal trading experience and passion for the markets allows him to customize trading plans for his clients. As well as his daily broker and principal duties he co-authors TradeScope, and writes a special feature, the ALTAVEST Daily Gold & Silver Review.

Erik's commodity career started at Opportunities in Options, where as a broker he facilitated the development of a paper trading program designed for Ken Roberts course members. Two years later he was asked to be a founding, Senior Broker of the Great Pacific Trading Company in Grants Pass, Oregon. During his tenure as Senior Broker he was also Associate Editor of their newsletter, author of the GPTC trading hotline, and a broker-representative at Ken Roberts seminars throughout the country.

His tip for trading longevity is to "know where you want out of the market before you get into the market." He also stresses the importance of using a methodical trading plan that incorporates sensible money management. He prefers to maintain an overall perspective on the fundamentals while using traditional technical analysis to "fine-tune" entry and exit points. One of his favorite tools is Candlestick Analysis because it conveys price behavior quickly and effectively.

Before trading commodities, Erik was an Account Executive with FORTIS Financial Group, a Dutch Insurance and Investment Corporation, where he acquired his Series 6 and 63 securities and California insurance licenses. When Erik takes a break from the markets, you may find him golfing, sailing, traveling or enjoying vintage sports car events.
