Broker Service Philosophy

Scott attempts to develop a relationship with each customer that is both friendly and educational in nature. He is not one who gives specific buy or sell recommendations based on 'sensational sales stories'. He tries to show clients why they must adapt to a complete 'system' of trade management if they are to expect longevity in trading the markets. Scott believes that if one is to succeed in trading they must first develop a comprehensive plan for trading, rather than just trading haphazardly. He does his best to stress his belief that it really doesn't matter WHAT commodity contract one trades.

"What's important is to first learn HOW to trade. Then, as market opportunities present themselves (regardless which market) you can apply your trading skills confidently."

Market Trading Objectives

"I instruct each member of my staff to stress to customers that what we are really trying to accomplish is becoming effective managers of leverage, not successful market psychics or future forecasters. We impress upon each customer the need to abandon ego when trading and emphasize that there is no room for being right or wrong when considering market positions. Only the market is right. Once we have analyzed a trading opportunity and established a position in a given market, we will always attempt to manage it successfully according to our predetermined plan. If the market doesn't cooperate, we will exit our position and reassess the market immediately for the sake of capital preservation. If we are correct in our advice, then we'll suggest proper position management strategies to protect and enhance our gains based on market conditions and customer objectives."

Professional Background

Scott Magnuson has been involved in trading commodity futures and options since 1981. After several years of part-time speculation, he decided to make a full-time career in the industry as a broker and trading advisor. Drawing upon his experience as a client of a major brokerage firm, Scott feels he can better serve his clients - providing them the prompt attention and personal service they want and need from a broker.

"I try to give each of my clients the kind of individual attention I had come to expect from my own personal brokers. Whether one is new to commodity trading, or very experienced, the personal interest I take in each one's trading objectives is imperative to establishing a long-term relationship of trust and mutual respect."

As a member of the National Futures Association since 1985, and serving as an NFA arbitrator on various cases over the years, Scott has gained the respect of his associates and peers within the futures industry. His knowledge of trading the markets and disciplined use of risk management is evident in the numerous special reports he has authored. As a featured speaker at nationally noted commodity conferences and workshops, his main objective when working with the trading public is to "...teach my clients to better recognize trading opportunities in objective terms, trying to remove the trappings of greed and fear from the decision making process. Each trade opportunity has its own unique characteristics to consider before a position is taken. I try to help identify all aspects of a potentially profitable trade, and then suggest what I believe to be the most concise risk/reward information for each of my clients' individual trading plans."
